Additions to the Agenda: none

New Business:
A. Jennifer Shapiro and Amy Ash, Lifestyle Essentials, LLC
  • Members of the month were Gamal Nagi, James Burnett, and Daniela Patterson
  • The informational bulletin board has focused on heart health.
  • Lifestyles worked with village employees on 15 minute workouts at home that anyone can do.
  • Member survey conducted in the 2013 4th quarter mentioned the  amount of time Lifestyle staff was on the computer or behind the desk. Amy added that during the survey time period, she was out of town and many subs were covering the various shifts which may have added to the number of these comments. The survey included feedback on programming. The new session of classes starts April 1st and these comments will be taken into consideration. Blue Ash is a strong competition for our patrons; but class numbers remain steady or even slightly increasing.
  • Events happening in the fourth quarter were the Wellness Expo and a Kids Fit Day.
  • Events happening this quarter include a member appreciation day, Spring and Summer Challenges. The Spring challenge was suggested by resident David Carmody. It is based on the fitness requirements to enter one of the United States Military Colleges.
Old Business:
A. Ashlee Young, WeTHRIVE!
  • The WeTHRIVE! Website has added Evendale as a participant. This is an informational website of which one component is chronic disease (Evendale’s first focus). Chronic disease includes issues such as obesity and heart disease.
  • To receive our WeTHRIVE! signage, an additional resolution is needed from Village Council. David and Ashlee will work on this.
  • Commissioners were given copies of the assessment completed by David and Michele Gottschlich. Members will study this for the next meeting; and upon initial review, a question was raised as to the low number given for the village’s environment on funding. This was given a low number because of the cost of the Mill Creek Pathway.
  • David and Ashlee will get additional documents out to commissioners.
B. Lifestyle Essentials, LLC Monthly Report as noted in the packet

C. Evendale Bike & Pedestrian Master Plan update
  • Planning Commission passed a motion recommending the plan to council.
  • Stiney Vonderhaar, who attended the planning commission meeting, applauded David and his presentation of the plan, and answering all of the Commissioners questions. David, in return, thanked Stiney and Michele Gottschlich for their time, dedication, and the CACC meeting reports.
  • Mary Teufel had reviewed the Master Plan since our last meeting and questioned why Wyscarver received it’s sidewalk before Kingsport, even though Kingsport is listed higher on the priority list. That was a decision by other entities within the village and may be based on Wyscarver being a primary and busy street versus Kingsport which is a secondary and residential street.
Director’s Report:
  • Princeton City Schools has created Viking Youth Athletics.  Currently this group focuses on youth football and cheerleading; but we are monitoring any possible expansion into other sports. As many leagues prohibit kids playing on school teams and non-school teams, this could dramatically effect our sports programs if they move into basketball and soccer. Other communities will be effected if they include baseball. Additionally, the department may need to look into developing facility policies for Viking Youth Athletic teams, and other programs similar to it, to use our facilities.
  • Tony Teufel, our tennis pro, has begun working with the Evendale Elementary gym teacher to bring tennis to the kids. Early reports are the gym teacher is already looking to expand the program to all Princeton elementary schools.
  • Policy Sub-committee was formed by David and includes Mary Teufel, Greg McCart, and David. This committee reviews our policy guideline manual for any changes that may be necessary for 2015. Mary and Greg will email available dates to David.
  • Our archery ranges at the north end of soccer field #4 will be used this spring for an Youth Archery Class.  The program will be for six weeks, and taught by Evendale resident, and Eagle Scout, Tim Fortner. The program will focus on kids ages 10 and up; with a maximum of six kids participating. If the program is successful, the department will purchase more equipment, and bring in more instructors, to expand the program in 2015.
Phi Lambda Pi Report:
  • Recent activities include a potluck dinner night, basketball, and the Annual Awards Night and Overnight event. The awards program was very well attended with ten seniors graduating.
  • A pizza and movie night welcomed in the new flat screen TV recently purchased and installed for the group.
  • Eight kids volunteered at the departments’ Daddy Daughter Dance in February.
Open Discussion:
  • The tennis courts have had new fencing installed. New windscreens will be installed (as soon as Mother Nature cooperates). A net will also be added between courts #1 and #2. Furthermore, the main entry is being added to the same security card system that is used elsewhere in the Recreation facilities. Tennis balls that go over the back  (north side) fence will need to be retrieved within two minutes of a person exiting the back gate, before the back gate automatically closes and locks.
Motion to adjourn made at 8:35am by Georgia Bergan; seconded by Greg McCart. Motion approved.
